SALT LAKE CITY, UT - April 19, 2010 - The Royalty for the 2010 Days of ‘47 events will be chosen this Saturday April 24th at the LDS Conference Center Little Theater at 6:30 P.M.  This is a celebration for the entire state of Utah. The Days of '47 committee wishes to stress more about our heritage and our future and why it is important to learn about these things.


WHAT:  The annual Days of ’47 Royalty Pageant kicks off this weekend.  The selection
of a Queen and two attendants, all of pioneer descent, will represent the Days of
’47 at each of the Events.  They will be seen by thousands of spectators at the 24th
of July Parade, at the rodeo (hailed as one of the top rodeos in the Country), as
well as numerous other community appearances.
Contestants are judged on service, education, values, charity, healthy appearance
and an appreciation of pioneer heritage.  The Royalty strive to honor the unique
legacy of their Utah Pioneer ancestors as they support community events organized
by The Days of ’47 throughout the year, as well as numerous public appearances to
civic and church organization.   The Royalty Pageant is produced by the Daughters
of Utah Pioneers.        
Cherie Call, noted singer and songwriter and winner of four Pearl Awards (including
Songwriter of the Year), will perform at the evening program.  Other community
leaders will be in attendance.
WHEN:        Saturday, April 24, 2010
2:00 PM – Initial judging in preliminary categories
6:30 PM – Finalists judged and Royalty selected and presented

PHOTO OPP:        There will be photos of all pageant contestants, initial judging, finalists
being selected by the judges, and The Days of ’47 Royalty unveiled to the community.
